Plans for the new skate park at Lake Meadows have moved a step further
After a lengthy but unavoidable delay at the contractors' end, Billericay Councillors have received confirmation that construction works on the new concrete skate park at Lake Meadows are due to commence on site during the last week of September and should be completed by the end of February 2024.
This is the latest substantial investment in Lake Meadows, following the delivery of brand new inclusive play equipment. Lake Meadows has long been in need of an upgrade and the old timber skate park had to be closed by Billericay Town Council due to repeated vandalism back in 2018.
Residents have long been telling local Conservative councillors that young people in the town need better facilities and how many of their children used the old skate park and miss it. Basildon Council, therefore, made a commitment to re-provide the facility.

The new facilities, including the skate park, were subject to detailed public consultation and improvements have been driven by local residents' priorities. The design of the new skate park responds, in particular, to feedback received from young people, including former users of the old facility, whose expert input has been employed to draw up the new skate park.

The new skate park will have a float finish and will be made of reinforced integrally coloured concrete, with galvanised steel coping and edging.
